Principal’s Bison Bulletin for September 28th

Good evening!  This is Principal Hettenbach from High Point Central High School with a message from the Boulevard.

This past week we started our monthly advisory for all students. This will be an opportunity for students to receive and provide feedback based on numerous topics, particularly transcripts, grades, attendance, career pathways and more. While we just set the foundation this past week, we are excited that we are setting some time aside each month to provide students with extra guidance.

The Girls in Gear event at the GTCC Center for Advanced Manufacturing will give students an opportunity to explore high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing, skilled trades, information technology, HVAC-R, and more.

๐ŸŽ“ FAFSA TIME IS HERE!
Attention All Seniors & Early Graduates!
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opens October 1st!** If you are planning to attend college, trade school, or another eligible postsecondary program after graduation, completing the FAFSA should be one of your top priorities.
Join Us for Our First FAFSA Night!

**๐Ÿ“… Date:** October 1st
**โฐ Time:** 5:00 PMโ€“7:00 PM
**๐Ÿ“ Location:** Media Center

Ms. Hendricks will be hosting High Point Centralโ€™s FIRST FAFSA Night!
Students and families will have the opportunity to receive support with completing the FAFSA, understanding the financial aid process, and making sure they have the information needed to successfully submit their application. Why Is FAFSA Important? Completing the FAFSA can help determine your eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial aid, including:

* ๐Ÿ’ต Federal grants
* ๐ŸŽ“ Scholarships and other need-based aid
* ๐Ÿ“š Work-study opportunities
* ๐Ÿ’ณ Federal student loans
* ๐Ÿซ Certain state and college-based financial aid programs

For many students, completing the FAFSA is an important step toward making college more affordable. **Even if you think you may not qualify for financial aid, you should still complete the FAFSA.** You won’t know what financial aid you may be eligible for until you apply.

โœ… What Should You Do Now? Please see Ms. Hendricks before FAFSA Night to learn about the important information and documents you may need to complete your FAFSA.

Don’t wait until the last minute! October 1st is the start of FAFSA seasonโ€”let’s get it done! We look forward to seeing you and your family on October 1st!

Applications for Governor’s School are open for 10th and 11th graders.

The North Carolina Governor’s School is a four-week summer residential program for gifted and talented high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses on the campus of Greensboro College. Learning focuses on the exploration of the most recent ideas and concepts in each discipline, and it does not involve credit, tests, or grades. Students are selected to attend through a competitive process after being nominated by their public school.

All interested students should see Mr. Hochreiter in the counseling office.

Please take a moment to check out our 4 year data trend. This is something I am so extremely proud of. I am proud of our amazing and dedicated staff, hardworking students, supportive families and well connected community and partnerships who make every effort to assist in providing an amazing education to our many well deserved students. How can you help as a parent or guardian? Well, if, you are new to High Point Central, we simply need your student at school every day, on time, and giving it their all. We can take care of the rest of that happens.

Please be sure to review the electronics policy with your student.

Would you like to be in the know at all times about your student’s grades, attendance, and more, then make sure you connect to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Directions are below!

Familiar with Class Dojo at the Elementary level? Guess what, we are bringing it to the High School level!

Parents/Guardians, as a gentle reminder, in order for a student to be checked out, he or she MUST be in Infinite Campus under contacts to do so. They also must have a valid ID. This is for the safety of your student. If you find an error, let’s work together to fix that issue so everything can run safely and smoothly.
