Good evening! This is Principal Hettenbach from High Point Central High School with a message from the Boulevard.
This past Friday, our Student Government Association (SGA) took time to recognize and thank our first responders for their service, sacrifice, and commitment to our community. They also wanted to pause and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
Our SGA students spent well over an hour and a half reading the names of each victim of 9/11, ensuring that every name was remembered and honored. Their willingness to give their time, reflect on the lives of others, and recognize the sacrifices of so many is something that makes us incredibly proud.
At High Point Central, we are honored to have students who think beyond themselves—students who understand the importance of service, gratitude, compassion, and remembering those who came before us. These are the moments that remind us that education is about more than what happens inside a classroom. It is about developing young people who care about their community and are willing to make a difference in the lives of others.
We are proud of our SGA students for demonstrating leadership, compassion, and character.

This Wednesday is the GCS Celebration of Excellence, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate three outstanding members of the HPC family! Assistant Principal Gomez and Assistant Principal Lutterloh have both been named Top 5 Finalists for GCS Assistant Principal of the Year! Even more exciting, our School Social Worker, Zenaida Flores, has advanced to the final two for GCS School Social Worker of the Year! These accomplishments are an incredible reflection of their dedication, leadership, compassion, and commitment to our students and school community. Please join us in congratulating Mr. Gomez, Mrs. Lutterloh, and Ms. Flores on this amazing achievement! We are so proud to have them representing High Point Central High School!
Your student will receive their Quarter 1 Interim Report during 2nd Block on Tuesday for ALL classes. Please take a moment to ask your student to share their interim reports with you and discuss their progress in each class. This is a great opportunity to celebrate successes, identify areas for improvement, and make a plan for continued success during the remainder of the quarter.
Why Complete RDS?
If you plan to attend college in North Carolina, completing the Residency Determination Service (RDS) is an important step that can save you thousands of dollars. RDS determines whether you qualify as an NC resident, which may make you eligible for in-state tuition at NC public colleges and universities and NC state financial aid. North Carolina generally requires students to establish and maintain a North Carolina domicile for at least 12 months to qualify for in-state tuition. Students applying to an NC public college or university and claiming NC residency are required to complete RDS before enrolling.

Parents/Guardians, as a gentle reminder, in order for a student to be checked out, he or she MUST be in Infinite Campus under contacts to do so. They also must have a valid ID. This is for the safety of your student. If you find an error, let’s work together to fix that issue so everything can run safely and smoothly.
