Principal’s Bison Bulletin for May 26th

Good evening!  This is Principal Hettenbach from High Point Central High School with a message from the Boulevard.

I hope each and every one of you enjoy your long Memorial Day weekend. Memorial Day is a U.S. federal holiday dedicated to mourning and honoring the military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. We thank each and every veteran for their services.

As we return to school on Tuesday, we only have 5 days of full instruction left. Have you seen your students’ grades lately. Please do so if you have not. Do you have any concerns, or needs for your student considering we are close to the finish line?

Tuesday night, we have our National Honor Society Induction Ceremony!

Come join us for an evening of music at the final HPC Chorus and Orchestra concert of the year! Doors open at 5:45pm and the concert starts at 6pm. See you there!

Within this blog, you will find the testing schedule along with State testing tutorials offered in Biology, Math 1 Math 3, English 10. These sessions have shown dramatic growth for any students who have attended these sessions. Students enrolled in these classes should not miss opportunity. We have sessions Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-6:00 and next Saturday from 10-1 in the media center.

This past week we held our Graduation walk at Newcomers, Shadybrook, Northwood and Ferndale Middle. We thank these schools for allowing us to walk their halls and celebrate their accomplishments. We now move into this week with Mandatory Graduation Practice on Wednesday morning. Graduates should be in the main gym at 9:30 the latest. The practice should end at roughly 12:00.

Thursday evening, we have our athletics awards ceremony staring in the auditorium at 6PM Wednesday, May 28th.

On Friday, our Graduates’ Capping Ceremony takes place at 10AM in the Main gym. The graduate and the individual they have chosen to cap them should be in the auxiliary gym in the main building no later than 9:30AM.

This Wednesday is also the Girls in Gear event at 6PM at the GTCC Center for Advanced Manufacturing center on West Gate City Boulevard.

Advanced manufacturing, Welding, Auto mechanic, Trades, IT, Pharmacy Tech and other potential careers—interested females can participate in hands-n activities with the Shift-Ed mobility bus, demonstrations by instructors in the Center for Advanced Manufacturing, talk with other girls who are apprentices in GAP and FAME, and talk with female professionals in non-traditional careers.

A collaboration with the Community Foundation, GAP, Business HP Chamber of Commerce, Shift_ed, Lingo Staffing, Brady, Ziehl-Abegg, GTCC, ApprenticeshipNC, HP Economic Development and other area businesses. The idea is to give GIRLS AND their parents a chance to learn more about different pathways that women don’t traditionally think about, BUT are great career pathways, and great careers.

We are doing this now in May, and then will do another one in September to start the year off!  Questions—please ask—free to all girls and their parents—they just need to register using the QR code

Free Physicals on May 30th! Do not miss out!

Please link your Harris Teeter Vic card to High Point Central. Our number is 1084. LINKS= Dollars for HPC! The higher the link count the higher the earnings for HPC. You can link your card in the store by asking customer service or go to https://buff.ly/3OQ7V1w.

The electronics law is in effect as of January 1st.

I challenge everyone to be involved in their student’s academic progress. Please take a moment to create a Parent Assist account through Infinite Campus to monitor daily progress of your student.

Here is helpful information to assist all parents in getting a campus parent account. Here is another way as well. If you are still experiencing difficulty, please call the school. You can also download their app on an Iphone, IPad or Droid that looks like:

The Learning Hub is in session on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:00. The program offers flexible opportunities for students to receive academic and social-emotional supports, tutoring, and enrichment outside regular school hours. Learning Hubs will take place in the Media Center. • Students need to bring their ID cards • Transportation and food provided.

Parents/Guardians, as a gentle reminder, in order for a student to be checked out, he or she MUST be in Infinite Campus under contacts to do so. They also must have a valid ID. This is for the safety of your student. If you find an error, let’s work together to fix that issue so everything can run safely and smoothly.
