Bison Bulletin for the week of November 14

Report Cards were sent home this past week through electronic document delivery. If you did not get your student’s report card, please call the school so we can make sure you get that copy.

If you are interested in the Guilford Apprenticeship Program, also known as GAP, please see Mr. Lowe for a permission slip to attend the community night this Tuesday, November 15th, 6pm to 8pm at the Greensboro Coliseum. Transportation will be provided.

Seniors, if you haven’t’ ordered your cap and gown, you will now need to use Herff Jones’ website by clicking on this link . Please make sure you take care of your cap and gown ordering quickly. Here is the Senior timeline as of 10/25.

Field Trip to Winston-Salem (WFU and WSSU) – November 15^th

Limited to juniors and seniors. Students can get a permission slip from Mr. Moore or myself (will be due back on Nov 10^th). They will need each teacher to approve that they can miss class that day.

North Carolina Central University Rep Visit – November 18^th at 10 AM (Media Center)

The Jason Christopher James Memorial Scholarship applications are due February 5, 2023. One $7,500 award will be given to a student interested in politics, international relations, traveling, and studying/living abroad.

The Tyler David Williams Memorial Scholarship applications are due March 4, 2023. One $2,500 scholarship will be awarded based upon academic achievement. While it is considered during the selection process, economic need is not a prerequisite to apply.

The John Carlton Myatt Creative Writing Scholarship applications are due May 6, 2023. One $3,000 award will be given to a student who intends to pursue a degree in English, Writing, or Language Arts. Examples of creative and/or critical writing must be submitted along with this application.

The Herman and Earline Herbin Scholarship applications are due March 4, 2023. Two $1,750 renewable scholarships will be awarded to two Guilford County high school seniors. The scholarship is primarily need based, but academic standing will be a secondary determining factor.

The Thomas and Bettie O’Briant Scholarship applications are due March 4, 2023. One $2,500 scholarship will be awarded and is renewable for up to four years. This award is based on need and academic achievement.

The Kay Hagan Memorial Scholarship applications are due February 15, 2023. This scholarship is intended for a female high school senior with a passion for community and civic leadership. The $1,000 scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years.

The nationally renown Learning Hubs have begun! Are you aware that the average graduation rate of students who attended the learning hub is over 96%? Take advantage of all the services the Learning Hub can provide. Every Tuesday and Thursday, the Learning hub offers flexible opportunities for students to receive academic and social emotional supports, tutoring, enrichment, and a free meal outside of regular school hours. Are you interested in what goes on behind the scenes at sporting events? If so join CTE as they travel to Charlotte for Career in Sports Day with the Charlotte Hornets for a panel discussion, and a game against the Washington Wizards on December 2nd. For more information see Ms. King in 208

If you’re interested in traveling to Spain in 2024, it’s not too late! Spots are filling up fast. Please find Mrs. Ranew in room 200 or Ms. Wanichko in room 206 for details before it’s too late!

Are you interested in Culinary? Johnson & Wales University will be on campus, Wednesday, November 16th. The rep will be in the cafeteria during all 4 lunches.

In our support of Homeless & Hunger Awareness, we will be collecting small individually wrapped snacks, toiletries, Ziplock bags and any new or used backpacks.. Please drop off to Ms. Flores or Ms. White by next Thursday, November 17th! Thank you for supporting our school community.
