Principal’s Bison Bulletin for February 16th

Good evening!  This is Principal Hettenbach from High Point Central High School with a message from the Boulevard.

As a reminder, we do not have school Monday for students. Students return on Tuesday.

Congratulations to the swimmers who qualified for this years states meet! Jesus Morales-Rivera, Benjamin Holbrook, Jack Slocum, Bert Hurley, and Will Baker each qualified in both a relay and individual events. Swimmers beat their personal best times and are excited to run-it-back next season!

Congratulations to Austin Pacheco, Ellis Chia, Jaelyn Carlyle and Allen Dunn who competed this weekend in the 5a Wrestling Regionals. Allen and Jaelyn both advances to the State Finals and will compete again this Friday at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Good luck to our state qualifiers in indoor track! We are proud of Lindsey Shaw, Storm Jones, La’Kiyah Ledbetter, Nevaeh Dukes and Jude Richardson and look forward to the results on this coming Wednesday!

This past week, we held our bi-annual grade level meetings. All class expectations were shared, and a variety of different topics that impact the individual grade levels were also discussed. We should be expecting an amazing semester ahead!

Spring sports are now about to get underway and all coaches’ contacts have been shared as well. If your student ins interested in a sport, please make sure they are contacting the coach immediately.

During Black History Month, we recognize and celebrate the lasting contributions and achievements of African Americans. We would like to sincerely thank the committee for their leadership and dedication in organizing events and activities that bring this important celebration to life for our school. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

As many of you may know, March Madness is quickly approaching, where schools across Guilford County compete to see which school has the highest percentage of students completing the Shift-Ed Scholarship.

In support of this initiative, Shift-Ed and Ms. Hendricks will be hosting a Shift-Ed Scholarship Workshop on February 17th from 12:00–1:00 PM in Room 206. This workshop will provide students with hands-on support and guidance to help them successfully apply for the Shift-Ed Scholarship.

The first 30 students who register will receive a Chick-fil-A box lunch. If additional students sign up beyond that number, we will still accommodate them.

Please note that this workshop is open to seniors and early graduates only. Students who register will receive passes to attend the session.

Ms. Hendricks would truly appreciate your support in spreading the word to students and parents, as the Shift-Ed Scholarship is a valuable opportunity for our students.

OneGoal Post Secondary Culture Survey is a measurement tool that will provide district and school leaders with insights about postsecondary culture in their schools. Students will take this survey on February 18 and 19. Please make sure your student is present.

The electronics law is in effect as of January 1st.

Seniors and Early Grads should have ordered their caps and gowns. Prices go up another $10 on March 1st. Please contact the front office at school with any questions if you have not and are unsure what to do.

I challenge everyone to be involved in their student’s academic progress. Please take a moment to create a Parent Assist account through Infinite Campus to monitor daily progress of your student.

Here is helpful information to assist all parents in getting a campus parent account. Here is another way as well. If you are still experiencing difficulty, please call the school. You can also download their app on an Iphone, IPad or Droid that looks like:

The Learning Hub is in session on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:00. The program offers flexible opportunities for students to receive academic and social-emotional supports, tutoring, and enrichment outside regular school hours. Learning Hubs will take place in the Media Center. • Students need to bring their ID cards • Transportation and food provided.

Parents/Guardians, as a gentle reminder, in order for a student to be checked out, he or she MUST be in Infinite Campus under contacts to do so. They also must have a valid ID. This is for the safety of your student. If you find an error, let’s work together to fix that issue so everything can run safely and smoothly.

Please link your Harris Teeter Vic card to High Point Central. Our number is 1084. LINKS= Dollars for HPC! The higher the link count the higher the earnings for HPC. You can link your card in the store by asking customer service or go to https://buff.ly/3OQ7V1w.
