Principal’s Bison Bulletin for May 19

Good evening!  This is Principal Hettenbach from High Point Central High School with a message from the Boulevard.

Wow, we have only 10 days until testing begins for underclass and the senior events are in full gear this week.

This Thursday is our Graduation Walk for all graduates. Information can be found with this blog. Saturday, May 24th, is our Prom. Please remind your students to be safe while enjoying their evening. We will have a presentation on Friday on the dangers of drinking and driving provided to classes in which their schedule matches the time of the presentation along with a wrecked car placed in front of our entrance to the school as a reminder that drinking and driving is unsafe, let alone any forms of unsafe driving. Please reinforce this with your students.

Also, the following week, we provide our seniors and early grads with testing in order to solidify graduation standings. Seniors and Early Grads MUST make sure they are following all directions, mandatory meetings and events in order to walk at the June 12th graduation ceremony. The timeline can be found within this blog.

As we start heading to testing, we also want to emphasize our End of Course test tutoring blitzes. There is a calendar within the blog, and as we have held these sessions in the past, it has proven that those who have attended these sessions have performed better than expected due to the extra support they have received. Please feel free to reach out to any of your child’s teachers in the area of Biology, Math 1, Math 3, English 10.

In two weeks, on Saturday, May 31st, we have our annual Bison Day, where there is a day of Golf and a Reverse Raffle held at night. You may choose to participate in just one if you are not interested in both. The event is led by the Athletic Boosters Club but any questions can be directed to our Athletic Director, Mr. Mike Cook.

Do you have any prom dresses you would like to donate to our school to assist some of our young females for the prom? If so, please bring them to the school.

Thank you for all your donations to date!

Come join us on Bison day!!!!!

The Learning Hub offers flexible opportunities for students to receive academic and social-emotional supports, tutoring, and enrichment outside regular school hours. Learning Hub will occur on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon (4:30PM – 6PM ). In the Media Center. • Students need to bring their ID cards • Transportation and food provided.

I hope you have heard the amazing news! High Point Central was named the prestigious Hubert Humphrey Most Improved School at the state of the county banquet. This is a testament to the passion and perseverance of our amazing staff, the students that work hard, use resources in front of them and set high goals. The parents and guardians who advocate for their student while also supporting the school, and of course our powerful alumni and community members! If you have not seen the news segment, simply go to google and type in High Point Central Hubert Humphrey award. WFMY did a great job!

As we continue to navigate through the year, please make sure you are following our athletics clear bag policy.
