Principal’s Bison Bulletin for March 31

Good evening!  This is Principal Hettenbach from High Point Central High School with a message from the Boulevard.

Tomorrow, Monday is a teacher workday so there is no school for students.

We are now in the last quarter in the school year. What better way to start off the last quarter of the year then by having a family engagement evening Tuesday night. We will have an Entrepreneur Expo, plenty of colleges, universities, businesses representing from the workforce industry, free food, opportunities to get assistance in creating a parent account to monitor student grades and attendance, win free HPC swag of your choice, visit your student’s teachers, counselors and support staff, and more!

We are in the home stretch and we can’t afford to back off the gas pedal. Thank you again for advocating for your student’s success.

Thank you to Ms. Pegues and her team for an amazing Women’s History spirit week!

Thank you to the four middle schools that have visited our IB program. Students were able to experience live instruction, talk with a student panel, and take home a free t-shirt. We are accepting IB applications for the 2025-2026 school year. Email David Williams (IB Coordinator – williad2@gcsnc.com) or Kathryn Lutterloh (Assistant Principal – lutterk@gcsnc.com) for more info or to set up a tour. Wellborn Middle is scheduled to visit us on March 4th!

I hope you have heard the amazing news! High Point Central was named the prestigious Hubert Humphrey Most Improved School at the state of the county banquet. This is a testament to the passion and perseverance of our amazing staff, the students that work hard, use resources in front of them and set high goals. The parents and guardians who advocate for their student while also supporting the school, and of course our powerful alumni and community members! If you have not seen the news segment, simply go to google and type in High Point Central Hubert Humphrey award. WFMY did a great job!

As we continue to navigate through the year, please make sure you are following our athletics clear bag policy.

Sign Up Today for Free High-Speed Internet for 2+ years

The Technology and Data Institute (TDI) in partnership with Guilford County Schools (GCS) and Lumos is offering a FREE pilot service for the next 2+ years to connect eligible students to digital classroom tools while at home, riding the school bus, and within the community. Eligible students must attend one of four schools – Fairview Elementary, Penn-Griffin School for the Arts, Ferndale Middle School, or High Point Central – and reside in a neighborhood served by Lumos Fiber. The pilot program will provide free service through June 2026 and then will seek to secure federal or state funding to continue the program beyond that date.

As we have all learned, having internet access to classroom tools (now) and job opportunities and health services (lifelong) are fundamental to success in today’s classroom and society.

This program is truly as good as it sounds with NO added costs or strings attached. You will be contacted shortly by school officials to describe program benefits, including:

Flexible, no-cost access to high-speed home internet through June 2026. Automatic connection for your student’s Chromebook or iPad via a wireless service called “eduroam.”Roaming access to modern learning tools at school, home, on selected school buses and community sites throughout Guilford County, and at thousands more locations nationwide!
