Principal’s Bison Bulletin – Week of January 29th

As shared last week, based on preliminary data, High Point Central has showed significant growth in the areas of State Tested English 10, Math 1, Math 3 and Biology. All of these areas showed dramatic improvements in their semester long benchmarks as well. The school has also shown dramatic improvements in percent tested of students for state exams, a significant decrease in discipline, chronic attendance and severe attendance. We have shown improvement in our overall student attendance significantly, satisfactorily present percent of students, and we have just begun. I am so proud of our students, staff, parents, guardians and community for stepping up to the challenge. We can not be heading in this direction without all stakeholders on board. Thank you.

As we navigate through this 2nd semester, our 11th and 12th graders should be focused on the pathway of their choice, whether it be college, career, or the military. We have plenty of resources and assistance for each and every student.

I urge each student to reach out to their counselor, Career Development Coordinator and or our College and Career Advisor.

Mr. Harper – College and Career Advisor

Mr. Lowe – Career Development Coordinator

Counselors:

Mr. Hochreiter– Last names A-Z

Ms. Totten – Last Names D-I

Ms. Evans – Last Names J-Mc

Ms. Witten – Last names – Me-R (9th-11th)

Ms. Lindsay – Last names – S-Z (and seniors, Me-Z)

Continuing with the positivity, as the semester has ended, we have 26 students with perfect attendance the entire semester! Close to 25% of our students had perfect attendance during our last interim window, again, simply amazing!

I challenge all parents and guardians to review teacher canvas pages based on the student schedules brought home Tuesday evening. Do you know how to reach the teacher through e-mail? Are you receiving communications from the school weekly? Can you monitor your student’s attendance and progress on PowerSchool? If the answer is “no” to any of these, please call the school at 336-819-2825 for assistance.
