Principal’s Bison Bulletin – Start of the 2nd semester

Tomorrow, Monday, students are off from school as staff close up the first semester and prepare for the new 2nd semester. Final 1st semester grades will be mailed home, as well as delivered electronically on January 31st. If you are not receiving communications electronically through e-mail, please call the school for guidance.

We have had an amazing 1st semester and I look forward to seeing what semester #2 brings. Some of the many highlights of the first semester include but are not limited to lowering the discipline dramatically, improving student and staff attendance while also decreasing chronic attendance. Instructional benchmark scores have all increased as well as our end of semester state EOC scores. We have multiple teachers who have scored higher than their GCS counter parts on the GCS Final exams as well as CTE teachers demonstrating proficiency in a majority of the exams given. There is so much greatness occurring on the Boulevard and I hope you have seen or heard so much of this.

On Tuesday, students will report to their 1st semester 1st block class to get their most updated schedules for the 2nd semester. Only report to your counselor IF you have a hole in your schedule, a repeated class, interest in taking Japanese 1, Anatomy or Forensics. Otherwise, e-mail your counselor with any other inquiries and they will get to you as soon as they can.

I challenge all parents and guardians to review teacher canvas pages based on the student schedules brought home Tuesday evening. Do you know how to reach the teacher through e-mail? Are you receiving communications from the school weekly? Can you monitor your student’s attendance and progress on PowerSchool? If the answer is “no” to any of these, please call the school at 336-819-2825 for assistance.

We will have 2nd semester grade level Meetings on Wednesday and Thursday to review expectations, discuss our 1st semester’s accomplishments and set the goals for the remainder of the year.

“There is a  Boy’s Lacrosse meeting after school in the main gym on Tuesday January 23rd.   Coach Heide will be discussing off season workouts, skill session dates,  and paperwork needs.  If you are interested in playing Boy’s Lacrosse this spring, please attend.”

Pre-Season workouts for Women’s Lacrosse will begin Monday, January 29 at 4:30 on the track behind the gym. You must have a completed physical and concussion form to participate. See Coach Kelley in room 322 for more details.
