This past Wednesday, we distributed our 2nd interim report for all students. If you did not get a paper copy from your student, please reach out to your student’s teachers. We also followed up with an e-mail. If you did not receive that e-mail, please follow the instructions within the blog on how to update PowerSchool so you receive these electronic deliveries moving forward. It is very easy. If you have any difficulty, please contact the school for assistance.
At this time, and I know so many of you are assisting, I need the entire community to assist us with getting students to school on time for 1st block class. Class starts at 9:15, so therefore, students should be walking into the building no later than 9:10. We have had 51 students in perfect attendance since day 1 of the school year and 113 students with prefect attendance in the 2nd interim window. Thank you so much for helping us with this important expectation.
Hispanic Heritage Month takes place September 15 to October 15 every year as a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the American Latino community. WHY DOES HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH START IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MONTH? September 15 was chosen as the kickoff because it coincides with the Independence Day celebrations of five “Central American neighbors,” — Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Those five nations declared their independence from Spain on September 15, 1821. Other Spanish-speaking nations have anniversaries close to those dates as well. Mexico– our neighbor– declared independence from Spain on September 16th, 1810. Chile did the same on September 18th, 1810.
Tuesday, 10/10, is our annual DIG PINK volleyball game AND Senior Night to celebrate and recognize our three amazing seniors. Please come out and be part of two great volleyball events in one night. Games start at 5pm with JV and varsity will follow.
High Point Central will administer the PSAT on Wednesday, October 11th, to all 10th and 11th grade students. Please remind your student to bring their Chromebook, fully charged on testing day. Please note, students will not be called for early checkouts once testing has begun. Students will need to stay in their testing site until school-wide testing is complete. October 11th will be an asynchronous day for all 9th and 12th grade students. 9th and 12th grade students will be able to work asynchronously from Canvas to complete assignments posted by their teachers. Teachers will capture attendance by using Canvas login information and work submissions.
All students & parents are invited to attend the 2023 Fall College and Career & Industry Fair that will be held on Tuesday, October 10th from 5:30 – 7:30 in partnership with Sister Circle in both the Aux Gym and Cafe’. Students, you have a fantastic opportunity to engage with College/University Admissions Representatives regarding academics, the admissions process, honors college, financial aid/scholarships, and campus life. Likewise, explore the different career opportunities from Industry Representatives and Military Recruiters.
FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) will have it’s first meeting Monday, Oct. 9th in Ms. Ribeiro’s room 220 from: 4:15 to 5:15 pm.
The Bison Bots – Come be part of High Point Central’s first Robotic Team. Stop by and see Mr. Watkins in Room 114. The 1st meeting will be held next Tuesday right after the school. Go Bots!!
You can update your student information directly through the PowerSchool Parent Portal! Using a new feature called Forms, parents and guardians can make changes to their contact information and medical alerts, provide an absence notice in the event of a student absence, and submit other required paperwork. PowerSchool Parent Portal also gives you access to grades, assignments and attendance information, right from your phone or computer.

The Learning Hub is making its return on OCTOBER 3, 2023.
The program offers flexible opportunities for students to receive academic and social-emotional supports, tutoring, and enrichment outside regular school hours.
Learning Hub will occur on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon (4:30PM – 6PM ). In the Media Center.

Juniors interested in Governors School, You can find the application and the teacher recommendation forms on the High Point Central website. The application is located in two places. You can find this information on the website under the student services tab in both the Governor’s school drop down or under the counselors drop down. Completed application are due to Ms. Totten by Friday, October 20th 2023. If you have any questions please see Ms. Totten in the Counselors Office.

I-9 – Technology Violation – Students are prohibited from taking photographs, videos, or other media of any other student or school personnel without permission. Students are further prohibited from posting any such media or images in public spaces including online or via social media platforms. This rule includes but is not limited to posting videos of fights or other disruptive conduct where permission is not granted for the posting of each person’s image, and posting pages including images designed to make fun of or negatively target a particular student or staff member without their permission.
Immunization Clinics are available for Rising 12th Grade Students.
12th-grade students are required to receive the booster dose of the Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV).
