Principal’s Bison Bulletin for the week of September 11

Please remember that school starts at 9:15. If you are driving your student, or if your student is walking to school, they should prepare to arrive by 9:10 in order to get to their class on time.

You can update your student information directly through the PowerSchool Parent Portal! Using a new feature called Forms, parents and guardians can make changes to their contact information and medical alerts, provide an absence notice in the event of a student absence, and submit other required paperwork. PowerSchool Parent Portal also gives you access to grades, assignments and attendance information, right from your phone or computer.

Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal Account to begin the process. If you need help setting up a Parent Portal account, contact our data manager, Mrs. Hamlin at hamlint@gcsnc.com.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, DAR, Good Citizens program and scholarship contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The student selected as the school’s DAR Good Citizen must have the qualities of dependability (which includes truthfulness, loyalty, and punctuality); service (which includes cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others); leadership (which includes personality, self-control, and ability to assume responsibility); and patriotism (which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community, and nation) to an outstanding degree. Nomination forms can be found on the Class of 2024 Remind, on the wall outside of Mrs. Evans’ office or from your school counselor. School nomination forms must be submitted to Ms. Lindsay by September 26 at 4:20.

Come out to Chick Fil A next Tuesday night Sept 12th and support your High Point Central Men’s Basketball team. A portion of the proceeds will go to help our men’s team here at Central.

Are you interested in truck driving? GTCC Truck Driving Program will be on campus, Sept 13th, during 1st and 2nd blocks. They will provide valuable information about their program and the opportunities that are available . Please see Mr. Lowe in room 221C if you wish to attend.

The army recruiter will be on campus, Tuesday, Sept 12th. They will be in the cafeteria during all 4 lunches. Stop at the table and see the many opportunities they have to offer.

If you would like to join the softball team, there will be an interest meeting Tuesday, September 12, in Ms. King’s room 208 immediately after school.

NASCAR is coming to High Point Central. UTI/NASCAR will be on campus September 14th in the junior parking lot all day. If you are interested and enjoy working on cars, this event is for you. You must have a pass to attend. See Mr. Lowe in room 221C.

Shift_ed will be hosting two virtual events this month on Tuesday September 12th and 19th. On September 12th there will be an info session to learn how they can help students get to and through college. Also, a SAT/ACT Prep session will be held on September 19th for juniors and seniors. You don’t need to go anywhere, just attend online. Ask Mr. Harper our college adviser for more details.

The first Beta Club meeting for the year will be held on Tuesday, September 12th at 8:30in the auditorium. All members are strongly encouraged to come to meet the new Beta Club sponsor and learn about the service projects for the year.

Mrs. Stafford is hosting the final enrollment meeting for the trip to Boston this summer on Wednesday, September 13th at 6:00 pm in room 300. This is the last opportunity to travel, so please contact Mrs. C Stafford if you are interested in attending, or would like more information.

Students interested in Wrestling, Coach White will be hosting an interest meeting Thursday 9/14 after school in the wrestling room. Off season workouts will be starting soon, so please be sure to make the meeting.

It’s time for Homecoming! Homecoming court signups are officially open until September 21st. Homecoming night is set for Friday September 29th. And our official Homecoming dance is Saturday September 30th. Find a flyer, see Ms. Wanichko in room 206, or checkout the SGA Instagram page for signup details, ticket info, times or dates. Our theme for the dance this year will be “A Night in Vegas” and tickets for the dance will go on sale after September 12th. Tickets will be $25 for HPC guests and $30 for a non-HPC guest. Forms for non-HPC guests can be found in the front office or room 206 and must be submitted by 9/25″ No RS or OSS up until this date will be allowed to attend.

Please review this policy with your students. We are a 1:1 district,. therefore, there is no need for electronics to be out.

I-9 – Technology Violation – Students are prohibited from taking photographs, videos, or other media of any other student or school personnel without permission. Students are further prohibited from posting any such media or images in public spaces including online or via social media platforms. This rule includes but is not limited to posting videos of fights or other disruptive conduct where permission is not granted for the posting of each person’s image, and posting pages including images designed to make fun of or negatively target a particular student or staff member without their permission.

Immunization Clinics are available for Rising 12th Grade Students.

12th-grade students are required to receive the booster dose of the Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV).

Our amazing Bison Pride group is focused on beautifying the outside and inside of our school. Please consider making any form of donations to this group so they can continue to make our school look beautiful!

Athletics sports passes are 125 for adults and 50 for students. They can be purchased starting on August 1 in the Main Office.
