Principal’s Bison Bulletin for February 13

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history.

We have been having a great time during African American History month so far. We have been celebrating and playing music from African American artists during our hall transitions. We are sharing information about African Americans and their accomplishments during our announcements, spotlighting staff and their connections with historical African Americans and the impact on them personally, and even held an HBCU fair during lunches. Additionally, we have had professionals in our lunches who are having conversations with our students on how they have become successful in their profession.

Congratulations to the 2022 inductees into High Point Central’s Sports Hall of Fame. We had a great night celebrating the amazing accomplishments from these stars.

Report Cards went home electronically and through the USPS this past Tuesday. If you do not receive either version by Friday, please call us at the school. Also – if you are not receiving text messages or e-mails from us in general and want to, please contact our school.

High Point Central is looking for feedback from all stakeholders exploring a transition from Block scheduling to Traditional scheduling for the 24-25 school year. You can use this FORM to provide any feedback. We will share information related to questions and concerns within our blog moving forward.

If you are a Junior with a passion for science, please ask your science teacher or Mr. David Williams about the Draelos Science Scholars Program. This is a 6 week, paid summer internship where you work in a lab with a college professor as mentor. Applications are due February 15. Applications and information can be accessed via the HPC home page, or in Canvas announcements.

Learning Hubs has added a third day of the week based on the success we have seen. We will now hold the Hub Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30-6. Students must let Mr. Hagerman know they are interested in attending.

Tomorrow, our monthly PTO meeting will be in the Media Center at 6PM. Come join us and find out ways you can support High Point Central.

We are also still in need of volunteers for our Adopt-A-Room.    Help us create a partnership between you and a staff member at HPC. This is not a huge time or financial commitment, but an opportunity to help staff spruce up their room.  We will put you directly in contact with a staff member to communicate and build a partnership. Are you not too sure how you can help? We have had a great turnout so far, but we need more volunteers! Simply e-mail our PTO president at cecewas@aol.com.
