Bison Bulletin for the week of October 24

What an AMAZING week we have had! Senior events, Homecoming court, Spirit week, Spirit Day parade, Homecoming Dance, the 1st Annual Homecoming Tailgate Party and more! I am so proud of the students who continue to great things and I promise I will make sure they get the best traditional High School experience possible! They deserve it. Thank you to so many people who made these events possible. Some of the individuals are and not limited to: Tim Ilderton from Ilderton Jeep Dodge, Carlvena Foster, Ms. Wanichko, Ms. Nwabueze, Ms. Ranew, Mr. Williams, Coach Hayes, Coach Cook, an extraordinary number of the HPC staff, and more. It really is so many to list and this is exactly what makes the HPC staff and community so special. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This Thursday, the 1st quarter will be over. Please make sure your student is making every effort to get those grades up over the next 4 days. Please reach out to your student’s teachers with any questions. Report Cards will be delivered electronically on Nov 7th.

This Friday, October 28th and Monday, October 31st are teacher workdays. No school for students.

This Tuesday, we are having a meeting for seniors at 3:00 in the auditorium to go over upcoming Senior timelines and graduation ordering information from Herff Jones. Please ask your senior for the ordering forms when they get home.

October 27th – College Family Night

            A representative from the College Foundation of North Carolina will join us to inform seniors and their families what the next steps are after they have submitted their college applications, including information regarding scholarships, FAFSA, etc.

The nationally renown Learning Hubs have begun! Are you aware that the average graduation rate of students who attended the learning hub is over 96%? Take advantage of all the services the Learning Hub can provide. Every Tuesday and Thursday, the Learning hub offers flexible opportunities for students to receive academic and social emotional supports, tutoring, enrichment, and a free meal outside of regular school hours. Please e-mail Assistant Principal Hagerman for more details.

The deadline for seniors to apply for High Point Central’s National Honor Society chapter is 4 p.m., Thursday, October 27. To apply, you must be a senior with a cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.3, and have a record of leadership and service. Dues are $25. The application can be found on Canvas or on the school’s Web site and social media platforms. You must be signed in with your GCS user name to submit your application. See Mr. Hayes with any questions.

Are you interested in what goes on behind the scenes at sporting events? If so join CTE as they travel to Charlotte for Career in Sports Day with the Charlotte Hornets for a panel discussion, and a game against the Washington Wizards on December 2nd. For more information see Ms. King in 208

The Point Players will be hosting a playwriting workshop on Wednesday, October 26 immediately after school. The workshop will discuss formatting and specifics, but also feature some playwriting warmup exercises to get your creative juices flowing. Come join us, just in time to get your play submitted for the Festival!

Financial Aid Information Night (With CFNC Representative)   Media Center at 6:00 PM. You’ve applied to college, now what? This event will explain the steps that seniors need to take to get financial aid and enrolled in college.

Herff Jones returns for Graduation supply orders

Students interested in the military can take the ASVAB test. The test will begin at 9:30. Students need to report to the media center by 9:00am. To sign up, see Mr. Lowe in room 221C, Major Davis or SSgt Terry. ASVAB test will be given on Nov 2th, in the media center, starting at 9:30am to 3rd block.

Friday November 4

GAP (Guilford Apprenticeship Program) will be on campus on 11/4, Media Center, 11-12:30. They will discuss the great opportunities with the program. Students with GPA of 2.8 and higher will be invited to attend the presentation which will be in the media center at 2pm
