Bison Bulletin for the week of October 17

This is Mr. Hettenbach with a simple greeting from the Boulevard.

This week is CFNC’s College Application Week. During this week, 40-50 colleges and universities across North Carolina will be waiving their application fee. This is a major week in the application process and tends to be when a bulk of students submit their applications. In 2021, over 30,000 applications were submitted. This year, we would like a significant percentage of our students to add to that number! Please make sure you reach out to your assigned counselor or Ms. Trinity, our College and Career Advisor for any help you need!.

Counselor assigned to Last Name

The Student Government Association (SGA) has been working hard planning this year’s activities!

One thing the students REALLY wanted last year that we are bringing back to HPC is a Homecoming DANCE!

You may have seen already but Homecoming Court will occur at the football game on 10/21 during halftime.

Previous years we did the female court during Football season, and a boys court during Basketball season. This year we will be doing both courts at the football game.

Followed by the dance SATURDAY evening, 10/22 from 8:00-11:00.

Tickets will be available starting in October. $10 for an HPC student, $20 to bring a non-HPC student (they must be under 20 years old and pass a background check through Officer Sep & Officer Jones).

Note: Any student with an ISS or OSS will not be able to attend.

Location: HPC Cafeteria

Food: Students should eat prior to the dance. Candy & Light snacks/drinks provided.

The nationally renown Learning Hubs have begun! Are you aware that the average graduation rate of students who attended the learning hub is over 96%? Take advantage of all the services the Learning Hub can provide. Every Tuesday and Thursday, the Learning hub offers flexible opportunities for students to receive academic and social emotional supports, tutoring, enrichment, and a free meal outside of regular school hours. Please e-mail Assistant Principal Hagerman for more details.

Please take a moment to open up this blog in it’s entirety to see what else is coming up on the boulevard. You will find information about our Governor’s School, Homecoming Dance, Homecoming community tailgate, CFNC’s College Application Week, upcoming college visits to our campus, student opportunities, Senior Picture retakes, and more!

It’s that time for Governors School applications. If you all have any names of students you feel would be great candidates, please send them to Ms. Totten. Governors School is generally geared towards recruiting students identified as AIG or enrolled in Honors/AP/or IB Courses. The process is a quick one as the timeline moves fast. There will be an information session on Thursday, October 20th. There is an active link for students to register via a flyer that was placed on the school’s website. Additionally, students may ask teachers to provided references, proofread their essays, and or provide technical assistance for students who need to submit an audition file once they decide to take advantage of this opportunity. This opportunity is for Juniors and Sophomores. The opportunity for sophomores is limited for students involved in the cultural arts discipline. These students must be auditioning for either Dance, Choral Music, or Instrumental Music. If you identify a student who would like to apply for this 4 week opportunity during the summer; please send Ms. Totten their name, encourage them to attend the information session, and send them to her if they have questions you’re unsure of how to answer.

October 17th – 21st – College Application Week
