This is Mr. Hettenbach with a simple greeting from the Boulevard.
A gentle reminder that this Wednesday is a teacher workday. No school for students. This is a PERFECT time for students to catch up on any missing assignments.

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting our athletic events. GCS has moved towards a clear bag policy at athletic events across the district. Acceptable bags must be made of clear plastic or vinyl, including gallon-sized or smaller zip storage bags. Small clutch bags, diaper bags and bags used for medical supplies will be allowed but will be subject to inspection. More information about this process can be found on the GCS website at www.gcsnc.com/athletics.
Please take a moment to open up this blog in it’s entirety to see what is coming up on the boulevard. Our very own upcoming College and Career fair on October 11, College application assistance, NC A&T visit on Thursday, GTCC Career College Promise, yearbook purchasing, homecoming, spirit week, College application week, as well as many more events occurring down the road.

The nationally renown Learning Hubs start next week. Every Tuesday and Thursday, the Learning hub offers flexible opportunities for students to receive academic and social emotional supports, tutoring, enrichment, and a free meal outside of regular school hours. Please e-mail Assistant Principal Hagerman for me more details.

The week of October 17th-21st will be CFNC’s College Application Week. During this week, 40-50 colleges and universities across North Carolina will be waiving their application fee. This is a major week in the application process and tends to be when a bulk of students submit their applications. In 2021, over 30,000 applications were submitted. This year, we would like a significant percentage of our students to add to that number!
During this week we will be holding 45-minute sessions for each senior English class in the media center computer lab so students can complete the different aspects of the application process. A letter has been mailed to each student who is on-track to graduate this school year about this and what they will need to prepare. If you have any questions about this , or any questions related to College, Career and the Military, please e-mail Ms. Jorelle Trinity at trinitj@gcsnc.com.

Here are list of the college-related events we will be hosting here at HPC. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Previous years we did the female court during Football season, and a boys court during Basketball season. This year we will be doing both courts at the football game.
Followed by the dance SATURDAY evening, 10/22 from 8:00-11:00.
Tickets will be available starting in October. $10 for an HPC student, $20 to bring a non-HPC student (they must be under 20 years old and pass a background check through Officer Sep & Officer Jones).
Location: HPC Cafeteria
Food: Students should eat prior to the dance. Candy & Light snacks/drinks provided.

Parents, when checking out your students early for any reason, please bring in your ID and be prepared to show it upon request. Please make sure to update all emergency contacts in SchoolMint. Please e-mail Tracy Hamlin for any questions.

We want to remind our parents of an important requirement for students who are entering the 12th grade next year.
12th-grade students are required to receive the booster dose of the Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV).
GCS is legally required to exclude students who do not have documentation showing they received the required vaccinations within 30 calendar days of the first day of school (Aug. 29, 2022, for schools on the traditional calendar), or their first date of enrollment.
Appointment cards are not accepted as proof of documentation.
Please remember this requirement when you are scheduling your child’s yearly check-up and make sure you get proper documentation. Summer vacation is a great time to schedule an appointment for the vaccines.
·We encourage you to get your child vaccinated now before the deadline.
MCV is available at your health care provider’s office or by appointment at the Guilford County Department of Public Health offices, located in Greensboro (1100 E. Wendover Ave.) and High Point (501 E. Green Dr.).
To schedule an appointment for your child please call (336) 641-3245. Students may also receive vaccinations from their healthcare provider.
For families without insurance, you may call (336) 641-6720 for a free health assessment and immunization appointment.

GCS will be administering the PSAT/NMSQT test to all students in grades 10 and 11 on Wednesday, October 12.
The PSAT/NMSQT is a vital opportunity for students to practice for the SAT college admissions assessment. These tests provide valuable indicators of college readiness and the unique data source for AP Potential reports.
This will be an asynchronous learning day for 9th and 12th graders. 9th and 12th graders should be accessing assignments from their teachers Canvas page. 210th and 11th graders MUST be in attendance for the PSAT.
