This is Mr. Hettenbach with a simple greeting from the Boulevard.

By now, you should have received your student’s interim report by means of a paper copy through your student, as well as through our e-mail system. If you have not seen that interim report, please ask your student. If you have not received an e-mail of it, please contact our data manager, Tracy Hamlin to make sure your correct e-mail is on file. Last, feel free to e-mail or call your student’s teachers to find out how you can better support your student’s academics. Remember, you can set up features in PowerSchool to get weekly updates on your student’s progress even as it relates to their attendance. Let Ms Hamlin know if you need support in setting that up.

This past week, we reinforced our expectations to the students and staff. We had a random school wide dress expectation check. Please make sure you and your student review the dress expectations. We did a lockdown drill which I was extremely pleased with along with a building sweep with a High Point Police Department K9. We will continue to set the tone that we will do the very best we can in making sure HPC is a safe and drug free school. Our students, staff and community deserve this. Thank you for your support with this.

Parents and guardians, if your student has not returned last year’s Chromebooks along with any chargers, please do so immediately.

We want to remind our parents of an important requirement for students who are entering the 12th grade next year.
12th-grade students are required to receive the booster dose of the Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV).
GCS is legally required to exclude students who do not have documentation showing they received the required vaccinations within 30 calendar days of the first day of school (Aug. 29, 2022, for schools on the traditional calendar), or their first date of enrollment.
Appointment cards are not accepted as proof of documentation.
Please remember this requirement when you are scheduling your child’s yearly check-up and make sure you get proper documentation. Summer vacation is a great time to schedule an appointment for the vaccines.
·We encourage you to get your child vaccinated now before the deadline.
MCV is available at your health care provider’s office or by appointment at the Guilford County Department of Public Health offices, located in Greensboro (1100 E. Wendover Ave.) and High Point (501 E. Green Dr.).
To schedule an appointment for your child please call (336) 641-3245. Students may also receive vaccinations from their healthcare provider.
For families without insurance, you may call (336) 641-6720 for a free health assessment and immunization appointment.

GCS will be administering the PSAT/NMSQT test to all students in grades 10 and 11 on Wednesday, October 12.
The PSAT/NMSQT is a vital opportunity for students to practice for the SAT college admissions assessment. These tests provide valuable indicators of college readiness and the unique data source for AP Potential reports.
