Open House is tomorrow, Monday from 5:30PM – 7PM on August 22nd and starts in the auditorium. There will be a food truck, Taqueria El Azteca, along with the Growdega Mobile Grocery store.

Parking permit applications for seniors will start the night of Open House. Junior applications will start once school starts. Only seniors will be allowed open lunch. Starting the followings school year in 2023-2024, there will no longer be open lunch as this is a safety concern and our cafeteria can easily handle our students.

This coming Thursday, August 25th is the Freshman Orientation from 8:30AM-12:30. There will be water and a snack provided. This is for students only. From 12:30-2:30, we will hold a club carnival to all freshmen who attend the morning orientation. That evening, from 6pm to 7:30pm, we will hold a freshman parent orientation in the auditorium.

This coming Friday is THE game against Andrews High School! Tickets will be available starting Monday at noon at each school’s main office. Sales will end at 2pm on Friday. Pre-Sale tickets are $7 cash.
Tickets at the game are $8 and cash only. You must stay on the side you enter- Andrews is the visitor and Central is home. Game time is 7:00PM.

If you want student to have a free meal this year, you MUST fill out the application. We don’t want any meal service to be interrupted.

We want to remind our parents of an important requirement for students who are entering the 12th grade next year.
12th-grade students are required to receive the booster dose of the Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV).
GCS is legally required to exclude students who do not have documentation showing they received the required vaccinations within 30 calendar days of the first day of school (Aug. 29, 2022, for schools on the traditional calendar), or their first date of enrollment.
Appointment cards are not accepted as proof of documentation.
Please remember this requirement when you are scheduling your child’s yearly check-up and make sure you get proper documentation. Summer vacation is a great time to schedule an appointment for the vaccines.
·We encourage you to get your child vaccinated now before the deadline.
MCV is available at your health care provider’s office or by appointment at the Guilford County Department of Public Health offices, located in Greensboro (1100 E. Wendover Ave.) and High Point (501 E. Green Dr.).
To schedule an appointment for your child please call (336) 641-3245. Students may also receive vaccinations from their healthcare provider.
For families without insurance, you may call (336) 641-6720 for a free health assessment and immunization appointment.

All students have received schedules on August 19 via document delivery to their GCS student email accounts. Parents who have a registered email in Power School have received the schedules as well. If you do not have a registered or current email in Power School, please send Ms Kimber, the counseling secretary, your email address at kimbere@gcsnc.com along with the name and grade level of your student.
Schedule changes will occur during the 1st week of school only. Students who are new to HPC, or who may have a gap in their schedule will be seen on August 29 and 30. Students who are scheduled to repeat a passed course, scheduled out of sequence or who need to take a prerequisite course, can alter their schedules August 31 through September 2. Schedule change forms will be available on the first day of school via the school’s website and forms will be available outside of the counseling office.

HPC Students! Reminder to record dates & minutes read on your reading log for the Summer Break Reading Challenge 2022
Students who read at least 900 minutes this summer will win a ticket to one of two Kersey Valley attractions!
At Kersey Valley, students can choose between a ticket for the Maize Adventure (all ages) or Spookywoods (recommended for ages 12 and up).
Minutes must be completed between June 4 and August 28, 2022. Record the dates and minutes read on the reading log link available on the HPC Media Center webpage at https://www.gcsnc.com/domain/4088
Have a parent/guardian sign to verify your reading and record the total minutes you read. Return this form to Mrs. Cadmus, school library media coordinator by September 2, 2022 to be eligible.

We need PTO volunteers! The best thing about the HPC PTO is that so many things are already in place. We just need the parents and community members to implement them. Please contact Cece Biesecker for more information.

GCS is still offering free breakfast and lunch to anyone under the age of 18 during the summer months. These meals will be available Mondays through Thursdays. Breakfast will be served 8 to 9AM. The list of all the sites can be found on the GCS website under school nutrition.

GCS will be administering the PSAT/NMSQT test to all students in grades 10 and 11 on Wednesday, October 12.
The PSAT/NMSQT is a vital opportunity for students to practice for the SAT college admissions assessment. These tests provide valuable indicators of college readiness and the unique data source for AP Potential reports.
